Abrams, Kim tie for second as Lehigh takes second at Lafayette's Invitational

HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team posted its second strong performance in less than a week as the two-day Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette, wrapped up Monday at Silver Creek Country Club. Senior Carlos Kim and junior Harley Abrams tied for second overall while the Mountain Hawks finished second in the 14 team field, just one stroke shy of what would have been their second Lafayette Invitational title in the last three years.
 
As a team, Lehigh shot 293 on Monday, the lowest team round of the weekend. That, combined with a 299 on Sunday was good for a final score of 24 over par 592. St. Peter's used rounds of 297 and 294 to finish at 591.
 
Individually, all five scoring Mountain Hawks broke 80 in Monday's final round. Abrams and Kim both finished the 36-hole event at three over par 145, just two strokes behind medalist Matt Hills of Central Connecticut State. Abrams fired the low round of the weekend on Monday, an even par 71, to go along with a 74 on Sunday. Kim led Lehigh with a 73 on Sunday and finished with a one over par 72.
 
Senior Zach Allinson gave Lehigh three players in the top 20 individually, tying for 18th at seven over par 149 (75-74). Freshman Billy Johns followed up his win at the Wildcat Invitational with back-to-back rounds of 77, tying for 39th place at 154. Lehigh's fifth scorer was junior Dave Olexson, who shot 157 (81-76) and tied for 54th place.
 
The Mountain Hawks had two players compete as individuals. Sophomore Brendan Worthy shot 152 (79-73) and tied for 30th place, while senior Jack Russell tied for 49th at 156 (77-79).
 
Lehigh will play its final tournament before the Patriot League Championship when the Mountain Hawks take part in the Navy Spring Invitational, Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, Md.
