Lehigh announces 2014 football broadcast schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the 2014 Lehigh football season set to kick off in ten days, Lehigh announced its football broadcast schedule on Wednesday. This year, at least seven of Lehigh's 11 games will be televised with the Mountain Hawks making six appearances on the Patriot League Network. An industry leader in online broadcasts, Lehigh will stream close to 200 events on the Patriot League Network and Lehighsports.com. For the11th straight season, Lehigh football games will air live on ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley, located at 1230 (WEEX-AM, Easton) and 1320 (WTKZ-AM, Allentown).

Locally, Lehigh's five home games can be seen in the Lehigh Valley on Service Electric Cable's award-winning 2 Sports outlet. Service Electric is the area's largest cable provider.

Nationally known and respected announcing teams plus high-quality production are also distinctions of Lehigh football telecasts. Locally, Mike Zambelli (Service Electric Sports Director and voice of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs) and former Lehigh linebacker Mike Yadush '93 will handle the announcing duties, with Service Electric's Al Di Carlo reporting from the sidelines. In 2008, Service Electric became the first television outlet in the country to broadcast all 72 home games for a Minor League Baseball team when SECTV teamed with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. This fall, SECTV will also televise home games for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, American Hockey League affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.

All five home games will be streamed via the Patriot League Network, with Campus Insiders producing an online video broadcast for Fordham's visit to Goodman Stadium on October 25. In addition to the five home games, Lehigh's visit to Holy Cross on November 8 will also air on the Patriot League Network.

Lehigh's September 13 game at New Hampshire will be televised by the new American Sports Network. ASN is a collegiate sports initiative of the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which has affiliates that reach approximately 38.9-percent of U.S. households. The Patriot League and the Colonial Athletic Association are two of the conferences that have partnered with ASN for the 2014 season.

For the fourth consecutive year, Lehigh football will make an appearance on the CBS Sports Network. Last week it was announced that CBS Sports Network will televise the 150th meeting of college football's most-played rivalry when Lehigh meets Lafayette November 22 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y.

Streaming video for Lehigh's three remaining road games will be available via subscription service. Road games at Ivy League foes Yale (September 20) and Cornell (October 18) will be streamed on the Ivy League Digital Network. Lehigh's November 1 game at Georgetown will be streamed via Hoya Vision, Georgtown's subscription-based service.

Lehighsports.com will be producing its own football specific video content throughout the season as well. The Lehigh Football Report will air every Thursday morning throughout the season on Lehighsports.com and will feature game highlights, interviews with coaches and student-athletes, features and more including an appearance from head coach Andy Coen each week.

Lehigh football can be heard on commercial radio exclusively on the home of Lehigh Athletics, ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley (1230 and 1320 AM) beginning with the September 6 season-opener against James Madison. Well-respected veteran Matt Kerr is back to call the play-by-play for his 18th season. Kerr will be joined in the booth by former Lehigh standouts Kody Fedorcha '00, Lance Haynes '94 and Yadush. Once again, ESPN Radio's Matt Markus will report live from the sidelines, while teaming with Kerr in the booth for select game broadcasts. Radio coverage begins an hour prior to kick-off with the Countdown to Kick-Off show, hosted by Markus and ESPN Radio Program Director Tom Fallon.

Outside of the local broadcast area, audio of Lehigh football games will be streamed on ESPNLV.com, the official web site of ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley.

The Mountain Hawks open their season on September 6 when Lehigh hosts James Madison at 12:30 p.m. at Goodman Stadium. For fans who can't make it out to Goodman Stadium, the game will be televised live by Service Electric 2 Sports and streamed on the Patriot League Network. Radio pre-game coverage gets underway at 11:30 a.m. with the Countdown to Kick-Off Show on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320.
