Kurfis to showcase talents in College All-Star Bowl Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh All-American wide receiver Lee Kurfis will play in the second annual College All-Star Bowl Friday night at Furman University's Paladin Stadium in Greenville, S.C. The game is meant to serve as a showcase for NFL scouts and provides an opportunity for players to display their skills in front of a national television audience.

Kurfis enjoyed an outstanding senior season that produced numerous All-America accolades including first team honors from the Sports Network and second team laurels from the Associated Press. The West Chester, Pa., native led 122.8 receiving yards per game and ranked second in the nation with nine receptions per game in 2013. He also set a Lehigh single-season record with 99 receptions last season and added 1,351 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He was also a first team All-Patriot League selection and an ECAC All-Star.

Kurfis will play on the "Nationals" squad, which will battle against the "Americans" lineup in the All Star game.

The Nationals team is led by former Clemson national championship-winning coach Danny Ford. Clemson's star quarterback Tajh Boyd is the honorary team captain for the Nationals, although he has not committed to playing in the game.

Last year's inaugural all-star game featured players with high school or college ties to South Carolina, but this year has been opened to all draft-eligible seniors across the country.

Kurfis will be the third Lehigh football player in the last four years to participate in a postseason All-Star Game. Will Rackley participated in the 2011 East-West Shrine game before being drafted in the third round by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last year Ryan Spadola played in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game and was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Friday from Paladin Stadium. The game will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.
