Atlanta Falcons release

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Former Lehigh standout wide receiver Ryan Spadola is back with a NFL organization after being signed to the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad Thursday.

Spadola appeared in four games as a rookie in 2013. He originally signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and appeared in three games with the Jets. He was released by the Jets last October and was signed by the Miami Dolphins, where he appeared in one game before spending the remainder of the season on Miami's practice squad. Spadola participated in training camp with the Dolphins this past summer but was cut in August.

One of the finest receivers in school history, Spadola is ranked second in school annals with 232 receptions for 3,611 yards. He was a three-time first team All-Patriot League selection and earned All-America honors following his sophomore and junior seasons.

As a junior, Spadola established Lehigh single-season records for receptions (96) and yards (1,614) while adding 11 touchdowns. Spadola led the Mountain Hawks with 57 receptions for 851 yards as a senior in 2012, despite missing two games due to illness. He was the leading receiver on Lehigh's back-to-back Patriot League Championship teams in 2010 and 2011.

Spadola is one of two former Lehigh football players currently in NFL organizations. Offensive lineman Will Rackley '11 signed with the Baltimore Ravens over the summer after three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is currently on season-ending injured reserve.
