Two Mountain Hawks named to CFPA watch lists

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two Lehigh football players were recently named to the offensive and defensive positional watch lists by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) heading into the 2013 season. Junior tight end Tyler Coyle was selected on the offensive side of the ball, while senior linebacker Nigel Muhammad represents the defense.
Coyle was one of five Patriot League tight ends named to the watch list, more than any other conference at that position. Last season, 
Coyle appeared in all 11 games, making four starts at tight end. He finished the year with ten receptions for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Coyle caught three passes for 31 yards and his first career touchdown versus Bucknell on October 20. He also found the end zone in each of the last two games for the Mountain Hawks, including an acrobatic five yard touchdown grab in the back of the end zone against rival Lafayette

He led the Mountain Hawks with 10.5 tackles for loss, and was third on the team with 76 tackles, and 5.5 sacks. In a win over Princeton on September 15, Muhammad recorded 12 tackles, 4.5 TFL and two sacks. He made 11 tackles and forced a fumble in a win at Central Connecticut State on September 8.
College Football Performance Awards, the largest awards organization in Division I college football, has recipients selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.
The full list of 2013 recipients, including the 2013 CFPA FCS Awards, will be announced on January 8, 2014.
The Mountain Hawks will open the 2013 season against Central Connecticut State on Saturday September 7 at Goodman Stadium. Kickoff is set for just after 12:30 p.m.
