Mountain Hawks earn No. 2 seed for upcoming Patriot League Tournament

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For the second consecutive year, Lehigh earned the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League men's tennis tournament, which begins Friday on the USNA Tennis Courts in Annapolis, Md. The league announced the seeds and tournament schedule on Tuesday as Lehigh will face No. 7 seed Holy Cross for the second straight year in a quarterfinal match Friday at noon.
The Mountain Hawks have enjoyed a solid regular season in which they own an 11-7 record and have won three out of four Patriot League matches. With one regular season match remaining, against rival Lafayette on Wednesday, the Mountain Hawks can earn their fourth league win, which would match last season's total. In its last two matches Lehigh posted 5-2 victories over league opponents Army and Bucknell, respectively.Last year the Mountain Hawks reached the championship match for the first time in school history, falling to Army 4-2.
Holy Cross comes into the tournament with a 1-5 record and has yet to post a league win. Holy Cross and Lehigh didn't meet in the regular season. The Mountain Hawks dominated the Crusaders, 4-0, in last season's quarterfinals, when Lehigh hosted the men's tournament on the Goodman Campus.
The Patriot League tournament will kick off Friday morning at 9 a.m. when No. 4 seed Bucknell meets No.5 Colgate. Lehigh will play Holy Cross immediately after. Defending champion and No.3 seed Army will face No. 6 Lafayette in the third quarterfinal match.
The semifinals will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. when No.1 seed Navy hosts the Bucknell-Colgate winner. The Lehigh-Holy Cross winner will play the Army-Lafayette winner in the second semifinal match at 2 p.m. Sunday's championship match will be played at 1 p.m.
The entire tournament is scheduled to take place at the USNA Tennis Courts on the campus of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. There will be no shuttle bus service available during the weekend, so attendees will have to park downtown and walk through the Academy gate.
In the event that inclement weather threatens, competition will be moved indoors to the Tose Family Tennis Center. Parking is available at that facility.
The Mountain Hawks will close out the regular season against archrival Lafayette Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. on the Leopards' Sullivan Tennis Courts.
