Mountain Hawks fifth after day one of Lafayette Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team opened up action at the Lafayette Invitational Sunday at Northampton Country Club. The Mountain Hawks are off to a strong start with an opening round 309 to sit in fifth place in the 15-team field. Junior Sean Keller shot an opening round 76 (39-37) to tie for ninth after the first day of play.
Sophomore Alex DiClemente shot 77 (39-38) to tie for 14th, while seniors Tim Rosenhouse and Doug Marcincin are tied for 23rd after shooting 78. Rosehouse followed up a 42 on the front nine with a 36 on the back nine, while Marcincin carded 39s on both sides. Freshman Carlos Kim was Lehigh's fifth official scorer, shooting 79 (41-38) to tie for 35th.Two other Mountain Hawks, sophomore Andrew Arnold and freshman Zach Allinson competed as individuals. Arnold shot 78 (42-36) to tie for 23rd while Allinson carded an 86 (46-40) and is tied for 76th.
Hofstra holds the overall team lead at 291 while the Pride's Brandon Shin shot 70 to grab the 18-hole lead by three shots over three players. Fairleigh Dickinson is in second place, 15 strokes behind Hofstra, while Lafayette, Iona and Lehigh round out the top five.
The Lafayette Invitational concludes Monday with the final 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m.
