Lum, Spadola garner recognition from College Sporting News

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The post season accolades continue to come in for two members of the Lehigh football program as senior quarterback Chris Lum and junior wide receiver Ryan Spadola were named to the College Sporting News Fabulous Fifty FCS All-America Team it was announced Monday. Both men have already received multiple All-American honors following Lehigh's 11-2 season that ended in the NCAA FCS quarterfinals.
Lum picked up his fourth All-America award of the post season after re-writing the Lehigh and Patriot League single season record book for a quarterback. The runner-up for the Walter Payton Award, given to the outstanding player in the FCS, Lum completed 66 percent of his passes for 4,378 yards and 32 touchdowns. He set a school record with his 32 touchdown passes and established school and Patriot League marks in passing yards and completions (358).
The Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Lum ranked among the national leaders in total offense, and had nine 300-yard passing games, including a pair of 400-yard efforts. Lum threw for a career-high 413 yards in Lehigh's win at Fordham in October. He also threw for 401 yards and tied a school record with six touchdowns in a losing effort against New Hampshire on September 10.Lum has now earned All-America honors this postseason from the Associated Press, The Sports Network, and Phil Steele to go along with his CSN selection.
Spadola enjoyed one of the finest receiving single seasons in school and league history as he earned his fifth All-America distinction. He was recognized by the same outlets as Lum and also garnered an All-America honor from the AFCA.
A first-team All-Patriot League selection Spadola set Lehigh and Patriot League single season records with 96 receptions and 1,614 yards. He fell 98 yards short of the FCS single season receiving yardage record. Spadola hauled in 11 touchdown receptions and ranked
second in the FCS in receiving yards per game and sixth nationally in receptions per game.

He caught 13 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown in Lehigh's 40-38 second round playoff win at Towson on December 3.
The 50 student-athletes named to the CSN Fabulous Fifty All-America team were joined by 22 honorable mention performers. Forty nine teams and 13 conferences were represented among the team and honorable mention selections.
The Mountain Hawks won their tenth Patriot League title in 2011 and their second consecutive title. Lehigh won its second round NCAA playoff game at Towson before being eliminated by North Dakota State in the quarterfinals. Last weekend North Dakota State defeated Sam Houston State 17-6 to win the FCS National Championship.
