Randazza named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Tom Randazza has been named to the 2011 National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced on Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks kickoff specialist for the last two seasons and top placekicker in 2010, Randazza maintains a 3.78 grade point average as an Information and Systems Engineering major.
Randazza assumed Lehigh's placekicking duties midway through the 2010 season, and ranked second on the Mountain Hawks in scoring with 51 points. The Gibsonia, Pennsylvania native connected on 21-of-23 extra point attempts and 10-of-11 field goals including a long of 38-yards versus Bucknell.Off the field, Randazza is a multi-time member of the Dean's List and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. He has been recognized with the Lehigh Faculty Athletics Council Academic award several times for a grade point average of 3.2 or better. Randazza was named to the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League football team in November and was named the Lehigh football program's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in February. He is also a PC Rossin Engineering Fellow.
Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include: being a starter or significant substitute in one's last year of eligibility at an accredited NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university, achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout the entire course of undergraduate study, and meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a 3.2 GPA or better. A total of 671 players from 241 schools qualified for membership in the society's fifth year, with a steady increase in membership each year from the inaugural class in 2007. Seventeen of the 671 players come from Patriot League member institutions.
This marks the third straight year in which Lehigh has had a student-athlete elected to the Hampshire Honor Society after Brendan Van Ackeren in 2009 and Frank Giacalone in 2010.
