Mountain Hawks to face tough test at No. 16/18 UNH

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh returns to the road to take on its second ranked Colonial Athletic Association foe in three weeks on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks travel to New Hampshire to face the No. 16/18 Wildcats in the first meeting between the schools in football since 1996. Sophomore quarterback Michael Colvin came off the bench in place of injured starter Chris Lum to lead the Mountain Hawks to their first home win of the season, 35-22 over Princeton last week. Senior tight end Alex Wojdowski caught a pair of touchdowns while the Lehigh defense forced three turnovers and limited the Tigers to one touchdown and five field goals. New Hampshire, one of seven nationally ranked teams out of the CAA, is looking to stop a two-game slide after a surprising 28-25 setback to Rhode Island in its conference opener last weekend.
Lehigh's defense allowed 528 total yards to Princeton last week, including 392 through the air, but the Mountain Hawks managed to limit the Tigers to just 22 points. The Mountain Hawks forced three turnovers and held Princeton to just three field goals in four trips inside Lehigh's 20 yard line. The last time Lehigh allowed over 500 yards of total offense was in a loss to Holy Cross in 2007. The last time the Mountain Hawks allowed over 500 yards and still came away with a victory was in 2005 when Lehigh outscored Colgate 50-34 in Hamilton, N.Y.
Wojdowski enjoyed a career day Saturday against Princeton. The senior hauled in four passes for a career-high 79 yards and two touchdowns, including the 18-yarder from Jay Campbell and a 12-yarder late in the fourth quarter that was Colvin's first career touchdown pass. For his career Wojdowski now has 31 receptions for 335 yards and 11 touchdowns. Almost one-third of the Pittsburgh native's receptions have gone for scores.
College football coaches around the country, including Lehigh's Andy Coen, will join to fight one opponent on Saturday – Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. By wearing an arm band with the Coach to Cure MD insignia, coaches will show their support for Coach to Cure MD, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) charitable project. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood. Because the Duchenne gene is found on the X-chromosome, it primarily affects boys and occurs across all races and cultures.
Saturday's game kicks off at noon from Cowell Stadium in Durham, N.H. There is no television coverage of the game, but it will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM as well as Lehighsports.com with pre-game coverage getting underway at 11 a.m.
