Mountain Hawks get swept in final match

With game point on the line, Lehigh mounted a four point comeback to bring the first game to 29-28 in favor of Holy Cross. However a kill by Holy Cross’ Chrissy Fanning gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.
After trailing by as much as seven points midway through the third game, the Mountain Hawks went on two scoring streaks that allowed them to tie Holy Cross 23-23 and then lead the game 24-23. Lehigh and Holy Cross would go on to battle for the next few crucial points as the teams stayed within one point of each other until the end when the Crusaders got the final two points to end the match.
The Mountain Hawks were led by senior Michelle Schwendenmann and freshman Brittany Thurston, who both recorded double-doubles. For Schwendenmann, it was her 11th double-double of the season and ninth in league play as she had a match-best 20 kills and 17 digs. Meanwhile, it was Thurston’s second double-double of the weekend as she had 15 kills and 15 digs against Holy Cross. Against Army on Friday night, Thurston recorded 11 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Sarah Wolfe paced the offense as she had a match-high 43 assists. Senior Cassidy Maumus anchored the defense as she had her second consecutive 19-dig match.
Christine Strawson paced both the Holy Cross offense and defense as she had a team-best 15 kills and 17 digs.
