BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior Troy List has been named the Patriot League’s Men’s Tennis Player of the Month for February, the league announced on Thursday. List, in his second season as Lehigh’s top singles and doubles performer, has been the most consistent and successful player for the Mountain Hawks in the early season with a 6-3 record at No. 1 singles and a 5-3 mark at No. 1 doubles. This marks the second career Player of the Month award for List, who was also recognized in February 2009.
List opened the month by pushing Brown’s No. 1 player, Kendrick Au to three sets before bowing 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The next day List rebounded with a gritty 7-6, 7-6 win over Jeff Chudacoff of Boston University, a victory that started a five match winning streak for the Calabasas, California native. List followed with straight-set wins over opponents from St. Francis (N.Y.), Monmouth and Mount St. Mary’s before downing Georgetown’s Bryan Miller in three sets on February 20. He dropped his final singles match of the month to Nikoloz Kurdoze of Drexel to finish the month at 5-2.
In doubles play, List and partner Collin Laffey were 4-2 during the month. Much like List’s singles month, the Mountain Hawk duo lost their first match of the month to a team from Boston University but rebounded to win four straight matches before dropping their final match to a team from Drexel.
February was beneficial to the Mountain Hawks as a team, as Lehigh rebounded from a 0-2 January to win five of its seven matches in the month, losing only to Brown and Georgetown. Lehigh is now off until March 23 when the Mountain Hawks will open Patriot League play against Army inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
