NEW YORK – The Lehigh track and field teams wrapped up their regular indoor season Saturday night at the Armory Collegiate Series in New York City. The women finished seventh with 20.6 points, while the men’s team came in 10th with 28 points. The Mountain Hawks were led by their pole vaulters as seniors Khalil Uqdah and Ashlee Atwell both finished first on their respective sides.

"I thought the meet set us up well for the Patriot League Championship," head coach Matt Utesch said. "It was a solid performance across the board and we left a bunch of points at home on the men's side. Even though the teams scores may not show it, we had a great meet."

Atwell, the two-time Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the week, tied her school record once again with a vault of 11’ 9.75”. Uqdah followed in Atwell’s footsteps as he also tied his own school record with a vault of 16’ 8.75”.

On the women’s side, some other top competitors included sophomore Katherine Pierce who finished 15th in the 3000-meters with a time of 10:25.58 and junior Emily Settle who finished sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 49’ 4.91”. Freshman E'Lana Lemon set a new PR in the weight throw (46' 9.81") as she finished ninth.

The 4x400 relay team, which included freshmen Alyssa Donahue, Khaaleedah Smith, Jessica Perone and sophomore Alexandra Doersam finished fourth with a time of 3:58.53, which was a season-best time. In the 800-meters, senior Jillian Randolph (2:18.83) and freshman Brittany Pietrosh (2:18.96) finished 16th and 17th, respectively. In the 400-meters, Smith placed 20th (59.12) and her classmate Elizabeth McManus finished 24th (59.60).

Maryland finished first on the women’s side with 121.6 points followed by Columbia (110) and Virginia (107.33).

On the men’s side, junior Andrew Jervis ran a strong 5000-meters as he finished fifth in a time of 15:04.66 which was a new PR. His classmate Evans Kosgei placed seventh in a time of 15:13.98. Freshman Christopher Buck continued his strong first season as he took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 49’ 5.70”. Another field competitor, sophomore Kyle Forrest, placed 10th in the long jump with a distance of 20’ 8.42”. Junior Kyle O’Connor finished 20th in the mile with a time of 4:18.29.

Virginia took first on the men’s side with 128 points and was followed by Rutgers (87.5) who finished second.

Utesch is looking foward to next weekend, "I am cautiously optomistic, you never know how you're going to pair out. If the women's team can get going like they've been, we will be happy. On the men's side it's good that we got guys rested and they should be very competitive."

The Mountain Hawks will now start to prepare for the Patriot League Indoor Championship which gets underway February 19 from West Point, N.Y.
