Esler finished the season with a 7-9 record at top flight singles, and went 9-7 playing mostly second flight doubles with Alfredo Fernandez-Concha.
Joining Esler on the second team was Randall Smalley, who had the best singles record on the team at 12-4, playing at the second flight. In doubles play, he finished with a 9-7 record as well, mostly at the top flight.
“This is a great honor for both of them,” said head coach Dave Shook. “The Patriot League is so deep right now, it’s outstanding for anyone to make the all-league teams in any capacity. They both were very deserving, and it is fitting for both their accomplishments and their efforts that the rest of the league recognized them in this way.”
The Men’s Tennis team finished 8-8 for the season, a one game improvement over the previous year, and they will return all of their starters for next fall, with no seniors on the current roster.
American coach Martin Blackman was named Coach of the Year for the third straight season, while Patriot League winner Army’s Jon Sabia was named Player of the Year. Stanley Kahl of Navy was named Freshman of the Year.
