Mountain Hawks surge past Bison

Lewisburg, PA – Lehigh took a step in the right direction Monday by defeating Bucknell 4-3. With the win Lehigh moves to 7-8 overall, 1-4 in the Patriot League, while the Bison fall to 3-16 overall, 0-5 in the Patriot League. Lehigh won the doubles point, taking two of three matches. The Mountain Hawks got the nod at first and third doubles as the tandems of Ryan Cann/Ty Esler and Randall Smalley/Craig Ditman were victorious 9-8, (10-8) and 9-8, (5) respectively. In singles competition the Mountain Hawks and the Bison each won three matches. Lehigh won second, third, and sixth singles, while Bucknell came out on top at first, fourth, and fifth singles. Earning victories for the Mountain Hawks was Randall Smalley, Ty Esler, and Jonathan Swanson. Lehigh returns to action for its final regular season match of the season on Wednesday vs. Lafayette. Match time is 3:00 p.m.
