Lehigh wins second straight with win over Howard

Bethlehem, PA – The Lehigh men’s tennis team won its second consecutive match, defeating Howard 6-1 Saturday afternoon at Lehigh’s Lewis Tennis Center. With the win the Mountain Hawks move to 2-1, while Howard falls to 0-1. Lehigh swept doubles action. In first doubles, the team of Ty Esler/Ryan Cann defeated Dwayne Pagon/Jibade Thomas 8-3. Also picking up victories for the Mountain Hawks was Jonathan Swanson/Craig Ditman at second doubles and Randall Smalley/Andrew Shapiro in third doubles. On the singles side, Lehigh won all but one match. The only Mountain Hawks’ defeat came at second singles where Kenneth Brown of Howard upended Ryan Cann, 6-3, 6-7, and 10-6. Victorious for Lehigh was Esler, Smalley, Swanson, Ditman, and Ryan Hefter. Lehigh returns to action on February 22nd vs. Stony Brook. Match time is 1:00 p.m.
