Another pair of wins for Lehigh

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh picked up a pair of wins on Saturday at the Lewis Tennis Center as the Mountain Hawks defeated Drexel 4-3 in the morning and St. Joseph’s 6-1 in the evening session. The St. Joseph’s match started two hours late and did not end until just before 9:00 PM. Lehigh began the day at 9:30 with the Drexel match. Lehigh upped its record to an impressive 4-2 on the season with their second consecutive weekend sweep. The Dragons fell to 0-1 on the season while the Hawks dropped to 2-6 overall. The Drexel match was much closer than anticipated as the Mountain Hawks barely hung on for the win. Strong play from Ryan Cann at number one, Ty Esler at number two, and Craig Ditman at number four powered Lehigh but the all-important doubles point proved to be the match winner as Lehigh split the singles matches 3-3. The Mountain Hawks swept all three doubles matches to pick up the win. Against St. Joseph’s Lehigh dominated in six of the seven matches with Ty Esler being the only player to not come away with a win. Esler fell to Francisco Velazquez 6-0, 6-3 at number two singles. Lehigh again swept the doubles matches and won five of six singles matches all in straight sets. Cann upped his singles record to an impressive 4-2 on the season. Lehigh returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when it plays host to Rutgers at the Lewis Tennis Center. The match is set to being at 3:00. Singles vs. Drexel
