BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Recent graduate Michael Gordon ’09 represents the Mountain Hawks on the Patriot League men’s tennis Academic Honor Roll, which was announced on Tuesday. Gordon was one of three men’s tennis student-athletes to earn a 4.0 grade point average in the spring semester, doing so while majoring in finance. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must obtain a 3.2 GPA and earn a varsity letter in his/her sport.
Gordon completed the journey from walk-on as a sophomore to team captain as a senior. Injuries limited the Wayland, Massachusetts native to just one varsity match in the spring, which he won. Gordon totaled nine singles wins and three doubles wins in three seasons of action, but his presence as a captain and leader was valuable as a senior as his injuries forced him into more of a coaching role.
A total of 33 men’s tennis student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll, led by Navy’s Jason Hill, who was voted the league’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
