BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore Troy List has been named to the All-Patriot League first team, it was announced Wednesday as the league announced its All-League teams and major award winners. List was the Mountain Hawks top performer on the courts in 2009, as he held the No. 1 singles spot and played on Lehigh’s top doubles team, while leading the Brown and White in both singles and doubles victories. The All-League honor is the second of List’s career, as he gained second team recognition following his freshman season.
In his first season at No. 1 singles List started every match for the Mountain Hawks and racked up a 14-8 overall record. The Patriot League’s Player of the Month in February, List went 6-2 in that month and put together a six match winning streak, while being matched up against the opposition’s top players. List also had a 4-2 mark against Patriot League opponents at No. 1 singles.
In two years of singles play for Lehigh, List has amassed a 26-16 record during spring play and has never played lower than No. 2 singles in the Mountain Hawks lineup.
List also led the way in doubles for the Mountain Hawks, teaming with sophomore Collin Laffey to go 12-9 at No. 1 doubles, including a 3-3 mark within the Patriot League.
Despite being in just his sophomore season, List emerged as a leader for a Lehigh team that bettered its 2008 record, going 8-16 in this recently completed season.
Among the major awards handed out by the league on Wednesday, Navy senior Nate Nelms was named the league’s Player of the Year, while Army’s Donald Van Velzer was named Rookie of the Year. Navy’s John Officer earned his fifth Coach of the Year nod, after guiding the Midshipmen to another league title.
