BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Former Mountain Hawk wide receiver Gerran Walker was recently signed to the practice squad of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers. Walker, who played for the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe for part of the summer, was signed by the Steelers in January and then selected by the Thunder in the second round of a supplemental draft in March.
Walker had a standout career while with the Mountain Hawks. The speedy wide out was an All-Patriot League First Team selection as a senior in 2005, after averaging 125 yards of total offense per game, and over 16 yards per catch. In addition, Walker was an All-League Second Team selection in 2004. That year, he averaged over 24 yards per kick return and caught four touchdown passes.
Following his time on South Mountain, the Georgia native signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in May of 2006, and was later signed by the San Diego Chargers, where he saw time during the preseason as a return specialist.
