Coen commented on the Mountain Hawks first practice of the new season. “Everyone out here had a great attitude and brought a lot of enthusiasm. Being the first practice, and going at it like this with no pads, there was a lot of teaching and helping the players get used to the structuring of our practices.” Coen added, “The freshmen are just learning and they’re swimming in it all, but I thought a few of them did very well with this being the first practice.”
The freshmen moved onto campus on Tuesday morning and were quickly introduced to the college football atmosphere with equipment distribution, a series of meetings and a weight room session. On Wednesday the full team went through testing and meetings in the morning, before taking the field for the first time in the afternoon.
Sophomore running back Josh Pastore expressed his excitement following the workout. “It feels great to be out here, back on the field with the team. We have a lot of anticipation in working towards the season and are going to work hard everyday we’re out here.”
The Mountain Hawks will practice again in split sessions on Thursday and Friday with the first full squad workout slated for Saturday. On Wednesday August 16, the Brown and White will begin its two-a-day sessions, which will take place several times a week up until the end of preseason camp on Sunday, August 27.
