Borda is player of the week, but Lehigh slips in polls

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh junior quarterback Mark Borda had a career day in Lehigh’s victory at Holy Cross on Saturday, and for his efforts, he has been named the Patriot League’s Offensive Player of the Week. In the 28-point victory, Borda completed 75% of his passes and set career highs for touchdowns (five) and yards passing (288).
Borda got off to a roaring start in the win over the Crusaders, completing his first eight passes on the afternoon and leading the Mountain Hawks to touchdowns on their first three drives of the game. Overall, he finished the afternoon 18-of-24 through the air with five touchdown strikes in Lehigh’s 42-14 win. His five TD passes were one short of matching a school record.
On the season, the first-year starter has completed over 60% of his passes (81 completions in 134 attempts). He has thrown for 1,086 yards and 12 touchdowns, with five interceptions.
In the win over the Crusaders, the Mountain Hawks amassed 476 yards of total offense, while limiting Holy Cross to just 162.
Despite the lopsided Patriot League road victory on Saturday, the pollsters apparently were not impressed. In the latest Sports Network and ESPN/USA Today survey, Lehigh has inexplicably dropped one spot to No. 18 nationally.
