Lehigh readies for Buffalo
9/19/2003 12:00:00 AM | Football
Ranked in the top ten in every major national poll, Lehigh begins its quest for a fifth straight Patriot League title and postseason appearance on Thursday, when the Mountain Hawks take on the University at Buffalo in Amherst, New York. Lehigh returns 17 starters from last year’s squad, which was undefeated in regular season play. The Bulls, members of the Mid-American Conference, will be the first Division I-A opponent Lehigh has faced since 1995.
Head coach Pete Lembo knows that the task that lies before his team is a tough one. "This is the most challenging opener Lehigh has had in a number of years," the second year coach points out. "Buffalo is a team that is improving tremendously. We’ve got to play in mid-to-late season form in our opener."
Kickoff is set for 7:30 from UB Stadium on Thursday night. The game can be seen locally on WFMZ-TV Channel 69, and can be heard on Oldies 1470-AM with Matt Kerr.
