Week four of the NFL season takes place this Sunday and several Lehigh graduates that will be in uniform.
The most seasoned Lehigh veteran is Kansas City defensive end Rich Owens ‘95. Since entering the NFL in 1995 with the Washington Redskins, Owens spent three years as a Miami Dolphin before landing with his current team the Chiefs. Through three games, Owens has recorded three tackles and one quarterback pressure. He is currently the backup defensive end for the Chiefs but has seen action in all three games. Kansas City (1-2) travels to Mile High Stadium for a heated division matchup with rival Denver (2-1).
A 1997 Lehigh graduate, Rabih Abdullah remains an active member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Abdullah has been a member of the Bucs for three seasons as the backup tailback to Warrick Dunn and has also played fullback. His main duties have been and continue to be on special teams. Abdullah has played in every game this season on special teams recording three tackles. Tampa Bay (1-1) hosts Green Bay this weekend, as the Bucs look to hand the Packers (3-0) their first loss of the season.
Quarterback Phil Stambaugh is happy to be wearing number 17 again for the first time since his days at Lehigh. The Patriot League’s all time leading passer is now the third-string quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. After the Saints released him at the end of training camp, Jacksonville immediately signed him. Stambaugh and the Jags (2-1) travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks (1-2) this week.
