Second preseason All-American honor for Cohen

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior captain Matt Cohen was recently named a preseason First-Team All-American in Phil Steele’s 2009 college football preview magazine. This is Cohen’s second preseason All-America nod after receiving the honor from Consensus Draft Services (CDS) in May. Cohen, who is the lone Patriot League student-athlete on the First-Team, is a two time All-Patriot League selection, including First-Team accolades in 2008.
One of the top linebackers in the Patriot League, Cohen led the league in sacks (6.5) and tackles-for-loss (17.5) a season ago. A native of Allentown, Cohen started all 11 games in 2008, totaling 53 tackles, one fumble recovery and three interceptions. He returned a fumble 38 yards for his first career touchdown in a win over Bucknell and registered five tackles, including one-for-loss, one-half sack and a quarterback hurry in the Mountain Hawks win over archrival Lafayette.
Lehigh opens its 2009 season on Saturday, September 5 versus the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils at Goodman Stadium. Kick-off is set for 12:30.
