12 Mountain Hawks named to football honor roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh placed 12 student-athletes on the 2008 Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll, it was announced on Thursday. Leading the way for the Mountain Hawks was junior wide receiver Brien Ruyak who registered a 3.79 grade point average as a finance and accounting major. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must obtain at least a 3.20 GPA and be awarded a varsity letter in his or her sport. The criteria for awarding varsity letters varies at each Patriot League institution.
Joining Ruyak on the Honor Roll were Paul Bode, Quadir Carter, Tim Diamond, Jason Figura, Frank Giacalone, Matt McGowan, Steve Santora, Chris Tiefenthal, Brendan Van Ackeren, Jon Warren and Sekou Yansane.
In all, a Patriot League record 132 student-athletes were named to the honor roll, including Holy Cross’ Ryan McGuire who garnered Scholar Athlete of the Year accolades.
