BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh closes out its home schedule on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks welcome in-state foe Bucknell to Goodman Stadium. Lehigh lost yet another heartbreaker last weekend, dropping a 34-33 decision to the No. 24 Colgate Raiders, marking the fourth game this season that was decided by three points or fewer. Sophomore J.B. Clark did all he could for the Mountain Hawks, throwing for a career-best 338 yards and four touchdowns, but it was not enough. Bucknell enters this weekend looking to snap a three-game losing skid. The Bison were upended by Lafayette last week in Lewisburg, 38-21, despite a career day from A.J. Kizekai who totaled 210 yards in kick returns. Lehigh has beaten Bucknell ten consecutive times, including five straight wins at Goodman Stadium.
Junior linebacker Al Pierce had a chance to showcase his offensive skills last week, as he lined up at running back filling in for the injured Matt McGowan. The New Jersey native, who was an All-County running back in high school, carried the ball three times for 16 yards, and also caught two passes for 40 yards.
The Bison enter Saturday’s contest looking to snap a three-game slide, with the three losses coming to the top three teams in the Patriot League standings, Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette. Bucknell is led on offense by its talented quarterback Marcello Trigg, who is among the nation’s leaders in passer efficiency. Trigg missed last weekend’s game versus Lafayette, but has thrown for over 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns this season and boasts an impressive 168.83 passer rating. Trigg has also rushed for six scores. Wide receiver Shaun Pasternak has hauled in 54 passes for 830 yards and ten scores, including an eight catch, 150-yard performance versus Colgate three weeks ago. Greg Jones and Sam Nana-Sinkam are Bucknell’s top two tacklers, with 66 and 62 stops, respectively.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 12:30 from Goodman Stadium. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall, or by logging onto Lehighsports.com.
