BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Fresh off a dominating 45-24 win over Patriot League preseason favorite Fordham last weekend, Lehigh heads to Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon for a showdown with the Ivy League preseason favorite, the Harvard Crimson. The Mountain Hawks played their most complete game of the season against the Rams, racking up 450 yards of total offense, and scoring on seven of their 12 possessions. On defense, Lehigh held Fordham to just seven points and negative-one rush yards in the second half. Harvard enters this weekend having won its last two games in convincing fashion, including a 38-17 victory over Cornell last weekend in Cambridge. Both teams are playing their final non-league game of the season on Saturday with five straight league games to follow.
Lehigh totaled over 300 yards of passing offense and more than 100 yards of rushing offense versus Fordham. It marked the first time since last year’s game at Fordham the Mountain Hawks were able to achieve that type of balance, a span of ten games.
Through five games, Lehigh has picked off a Patriot League leading eight passes. Last year the Mountain Hawks only intercepted six passes for the entire season and had just one game of more than one INT. This year Lehigh has picked off two or more passes on three occasions.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 12:30 from Harvard Stadium in Massachusetts. The game will be televised live on WFMZ-TV as well as Lehighsports.com. The contest will also be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM with Matt Kerr, Kody Fedorcha ’00 and Matt Markus on the call.
