BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following its bye week, Lehigh returns to action on Saturday evening as the Mountain Hawks head to the Garden State to take on the Princeton Tigers. Lehigh was last in action on September 13 when the Brown and White hung tough at No. 21 Villanova before falling 33-14. Tim Diamond earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors after a big day that included 14 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery versus the Wildcats. Princeton enters this weekend’s game having played just one game this season, a 37-24 setback versus No. 22 The Citadel last weekend in South Carolina. Senior Brian Anderson finished with 206 yards passing to go along with a pair of touchdowns for the Tigers in only his second collegiate start under center.
Princeton opens its 2008 home schedule on Saturday evening following the Tigers season-opening loss at No. 22 The Citadel last weekend. Princeton gained 358 total yards in the opener, including 206 through the air, while Jordan Culbreath rushed for a game-high 74 yards and one score. Steven Cody led the Tigers on defense with 11 tackles in what was his first career start and Wilson Cates totaled six stops and one interception. The Tigers finished last season with a mark of 4-6 overall, which included a victory over nationally ranked Lafayette. Princeton, which is looking to avoid its first 0-2 start since 2003, was 2-3 at home a year ago, which included a loss to Lehigh.
In its last 11 games when leading at halftime, Lehigh is 10-1. During that time, the Mountain Hawks are 5-0 in road games in which they have the lead after 30 minutes of play.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 6:00 from Princeton Stadium in New Jersey.
