Diamond earns PL Player of the Week honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior captain Tim Diamond was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Mountain Hawks contest at No. 21 Villanova. The preseason All-American totaled 14 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, to go along with an interception, forced fumble, fumble recovery and pass breakup versus the Wildcats. Diamond earns his second career Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week accolade with the first coming in 2007.
Diamond’s 14 tackles against the Wildcats were a game-high, while his forced fumble and fumble recovery set up Lehigh’s first touchdown of the afternoon. The New Jersey native has now posted seven games of double digit tackles in his career, and for the season he leads the Mountain Hawks with 18 total tackles.
Diamond and his Mountain Hawk teammates return to action on Saturday, September 27 when they travel to New Jersey to take on the Princeton Tigers at Princeton Stadium. Kick-off is set for 6:00 and all of the action will be televised live on WFMZ-TV as well as FSN Pittsburgh and Fox College Sports Atlantic with Steve Degler and Marty Horn ’86 providing the commentary. The game will also be carried live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM with Matt Kerr and Mike Yadush ’93. Live video will be shown at Lehighsports.com.
