Lehigh finishes first and fourth at Covert Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh kept its winning streak alive at the John Covert Classic, as the men won for the fifth straight time, while the women came in fourth place.  In the men’s pole vault, sophomore Kahlil Uqdah broke his own school record he set last week, by clearing 5.05 meters.  Franklin Johnson qualified for the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championship, jumping 14.36 meters in the triple jump.

 

The men had a couple of races were they had several runners place.  In the one mile run, Lehigh had runners finish second, third, fourth and fifth, while in the 5000 meter run, the Brown and White had the first six finishers. 

 

Kyle Manning had a personal best time of 1:06.79 in the 500 meter run, finishing first.  Freshman Niall Buckley took third in that race, finishing with a time of 1:08.60.  Matt Mattei easily won the 35 pound weight throw, with a distance of 16.15 meters, finishing 0.29 meters ahead of second place.

 

On the women’s side, Sarah Serwo had a personal best in the 400 meter run, finishing second with a time of 1:00.15.  In the 800 meter run, Lehigh had Jennifer Therkon, Jillian Randolph and Caroline Schwarzkopf, finish first, third and fourth respectively. 

 

The Mountain Hawks return to the track on Friday at 6 p.m., when they host Lafayette at Rauch Field House.
