Mountain Hawks complete first meet of 2008

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Lehigh competed in its first event in over a month, traveling to the Penn State Relays on Saturday, in an unscored meet with Cornell, Lock Haven, Monmouth, Penn State, Princeton, Rider, Robert Morris, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Joe's (Pa.), Temple, Villanova and West Virginia.  The men had two relay teams place fifth and two athletes place fifth in their respective events.  On the women’s side, the 4x800 relay team placed fifth in its race and Emily Roth took fifth place in the pole vault.

 

In the men’s 500 meter race, junior Scott Robinson finished with the fourth best time in school history, taking fifth place with a time of 1:05.12.  Robinson also had a sixth place finish in the 55 meter hurdles, with a time of 7.80 seconds.  In the triple jump, sophomore Franklin Johnson took fifth with a distance of 14.40 meters, his top distance of the season.

 

The men also had two relay teams place in the top five.  The 4x800 team, comprised of freshmen Michael Lowrie, Stephen Abate, Niall Buckley and senior Kyle Manning, finished fifth with a time of 7:50.45, which ranks in the top ten in school history.  The 1600 sprint medley team of Geoffrey Yeh, Khalil Uqdah, Lowrie, and Matt Foley also took fifth with a time of 3:48.49. 

 

On the women’s side, the 4x800 relay team finished fifth with a time of 9:32.59.  Roth tied her season best of 3.20 meters in the pole vault and finished in fifth place.

 

Lehigh return to the track on January 19, when it travels to the Bucknell Heptagonal.
