Wouter Hendrix is in his second year as the graduate assistant coach for Lehigh tennis. He is currently enrolled in the College of Education, where he is pursuing his master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Before coming to Lehigh, he obtained master’s degrees in History and International Relations at the University of Leuven in his home country (Belgium). In the Spring of 2007 he was part of the “Europe and the World” program, which brought him to Lehigh as an exchange student.
Born and raised in a sports-oriented family, Hendrix played tennis at the international juniors level. He also won the Belgian Doubles Championships twice and was in the Belgian top five during his junior’s career, competing in a generation of current professional players such as Kristof Vliegen, Steve Darcis, Xavier Malisse, Kim Clijsters, Olivier Rochus and Justine Henin. He was a head coach at his hometown club Excelsior Hasselt for 4 years and coached for the Clijsters Tennis Camps. His father Ivo was a head a coach for the Flemish Tennis Organization and coached the Belgian Women’s team at the US Open. His brother Martijn is a professional basketball player for First Division team Spotter Leuven, and his mother Hilde is a physiotherapist.
