Wouter Hendrix
Wouter Hendrix is in his third season as the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks Men’s and Women’s Tennis Assistant Coach and Director of the Lewis Tennis Center. He is also the Assistant Tennis Pro at Lehigh Country Club. Prior to coming to the United States, Hendrix obtained master’s degrees in History and Political Science at the University of Leuven in his home country Belgium. In the Spring of 2007 he was part of the “Europe and the World” program, which brought him to Lehigh as an exchange student. He earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University in 2010.
 
Born and raised in a sports-oriented family, Hendrix played tennis at the international juniors level. He also won the Belgian Doubles Championships twice and was in the Belgian top five during his junior’s career, competing in a generation of current professional players such as his former doubles partner Kristof Vliegen, as well as Steve Darcis, Xavier Malisse, Olivier Rochus, and Ruben Bemelmans. He has been the sparring partner of Kim Clijsters and Alexandra Stevenson. He was a head coach at his hometown club Royal Excelsior Hasselt Tennis Club for 4 years and was a head pro for the Kim Clijsters Tennis Camps. His father Ivo was a head coach for the Flemish Tennis Organization and coached the Belgian Women’s team at the Fed Cup. His brother Martijn is a professional basketball player and his mother Hilde is a physiotherapist. Hendrix’s wife Pamela is an art teacher at the Boyertown Area School District. They have a son, Leo.
