Mountain Hawks Sweep Holy Cross 4-0, Advance To Patriot League Semifinals

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lehigh men's tennis kicked off its quest for a Patriot League championship on Friday afternoon from the campus of Bucknell University against the Holy Cross Crusaders in the quarterfinal round. The third-seeded Mountain Hawks bested the sixth-seeded Crusaders 4-0 to advance to Saturday's semifinals.
Lehigh (13-9) and Holy Cross (8-11) were very competitive with one another during doubles play. After Luke Donovan and Jose Murariu claimed a 6-2 win at number two, number one and three singles were still locked into close competition. Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger pulled out a narrow 7-5 win at number one to clinch the doubles point while number three was left unfinished.
The Mountain Hawks struck first in singles play, as Jaeger defeated Camilo Illanes 6-0, 6-2 at number three. The next match to finish was at number six, where Benedict Horn-Bourque beat Holy Cross's Alessandro Bizzarri in two sets to put Lehigh ahead 3-0. Ofer Hacohen's two-set win at number four sealed the deal for Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks will play the winner of No. 2 Bucknell and No. 7 Lafayette in the Patriot League championship semifinals on Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m.
