Lehigh Bested By Bucknell In Patriot League Championship Semifinals

LEWISBURG, Pa. – No. 3 Lehigh men's tennis battled No. 2 Bucknell in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Championship on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks' season came to an end in a 4-0 loss to the Bison.
Lehigh (13-10) and Bucknell (18-6) played three competitive doubles matches against one another. Adamantios Stavrakas and Oscar Bain pulled out a 6-4 win over Luke Donovan and Jose Murariu at number two to get things started. Amar Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald then narrowly edged out Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger 7-5 at number one to secure the doubles point. Number three doubles was left unfinished tied at 5-5.
Both the Mountain Hawks and Bison faced an obstacle in singles play, as a multi-hour weather delay took place in the middle of the matches. Upon returning to play, Tahirovic picked up the first win of singles for Bucknell with a two-set victory over Murariu at number one. Stavrakas followed suit with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Blekhman at number two. McDonald's 6-3, 6-3 win at number five over Jackson Morash sent the Bison to Sunday's championship match.
The Mountain Hawks now set their sights on the offseason.
