Lehigh Splits Doubleheader With Bucknell And Holy Cross

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's tennis wrapped up the regular season on Saturday at home, hosting the Bucknell Bison and Holy Cross Crusaders in a doubleheader. The Mountain Hawks were bested 4-0 by the Bison and swept the Crusaders 4-0.
Bucknell (16-6, 6-1 PL) won the doubles point over Lehigh (12-9, 6-2 PL) thanks to wins at numbers one and two. Oscar Bain and Adamantios Stavrakas defeated Jose Murariu and Luke Donovan 6-2 at number two before Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger fell 7-5 to the Bison at number one.
The Bison also struck first in singles play, picking up a two-set win at number three over Jaeger. Amar Tahirovic followed suit for Bucknell at number one, putting them one win away from the victory. Oscar Bain's two-set win over Ofer Hacohen at number four secured the clinch for the Bison.
Later that afternoon, Lehigh squared off against Holy Cross (7-10, 3-5 PL). This time, the Mountain Hawks were the ones victorious in doubles. Blekhman and Jaeger earned a 6-4 win at number one before Holy Cross's Matthew Carlson and Teddy Callery won 6-3 at number three to tie it up. Donovan and Murariu won 6-4 at number two to award the doubles point to Lehigh.
Blekhman earned the first win of singles play at number two, defeating Carlson in two sets. Three minutes later, Jaeger picked up a two-set win at number four to put Lehigh ahead 3-0. Murariu pulled out a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ezequiel De La Plaza at number one to clinch the sweep for the Mountain Hawks.
The Mountain Hawks have locked up the number three seed in next week's Patriot League Championship following this weekend's results. No. 3 Lehigh will play on Friday, April 18 on the campus of Bucknell University in the quarterfinal round.
