Mountain Hawks Host Lafayette, Rider And Villanova At Lehigh Invite

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's tennis hosted the Lehigh Invite from the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. The Mountain Hawks played host to rival Lafayette, Rider and Villanova for three singles and three doubles matches.

The weekend kicked off at 9 a.m. on Saturday in singles competition against Lafayette, which resulted in a dominant victory for the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh bested Lafayette 8-1 across nine total singles matches.

The Mountain Hawks then faced off against Rider in doubles. Sean Jaeger and Alex Van Lumich picked up a 7-5 win at number one to kick things off while Lehigh also earned a win at number five courtesy of Benedict Horn-Bourque and Shiv Sastry. However, Rider ultimately came away with a 3-2 victory.

The final match of the day on Saturday for the Mountain Hawks came in singles competition against Villanova. The two teams played a total of 12 matches, resulting in a 6-6 tie. The Mountain Hawks found wins from Van Lumich at number two, Kosei Ogata at number three, Ofer Hacohen at number five, Wyeth Anzilotti at number seven, Nate Raney at number ten and Victor Imanishi at number eleven.

Sunday began in doubles play for the Mountain Hawks against Lafayette, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The team of Ogata and Henry Stoller won 6-4 at number two while Anzilotti and Raney picked up a 6-1 win at number four.

Lehigh's final singles match was against Rider. The Broncs won six out of ten singles matches played. Lehigh's wins came from Aleksandar Daskalovic at number five, Hacohen at number six, Raney at number eight and Sastry at number ten.

The final competition of the weekend for the Mountain Hawks was a doubles match against Villanova. Lehigh picked up victories at numbers one and two thanks to Jaeger/Van Lumich and Ogata/Stoller, but Villanova ultimately defeated the Mountain Hawks 4-2.

The Mountain Hawks are back in action this weekend on October 3-5 at the Army Shootout in West Point, N.Y.
