Lehigh Competes At Army Shootout

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lehigh men's tennis traveled to the United States Military Academy this past weekend for the Army Shootout, hosted by fellow Patriot League member Army West Point. The Mountain Hawks competed in singles and doubles competition against host Army, Binghamton, FDU, Marist, Sacred Heart and St. Bonaventure.

Lehigh's first competition of the weekend came in doubles play against Marist. Sean Jaeger/Alex Van Lumich won 6-2, Jackson Morash/Aleksandar Daskalovic won 7-6 (5) and Victor Imanishi/Shiv Sastry won 6-3 to sweep the Red Foxes. In singles play against the Red Foxes, the Mountain Hawks won three out of four matches, with wins coming from Van Lumich, Daskalovic and Morash.

In doubles against Sacred Heart, Lehigh's second doubles team won two of three matches. Kosei Ogata/Henry Stoller picked up a 6-1 win while Ofer Hacohen/Benedict Horn-Bourque earned a 6-3 victory. The Lehigh second team then lost 3-0 to Army Black in doubles.

The Mountain Hawks won four of five singles matches against Army Black. Van Lumich won in two sets, Ogata won in three, Horn-Bourque won in three and Hacohen won in two. Lehigh then split two doubles matches against, with the win coming by way of a 6-3 win for Jaeger/Van Lumich.

Lehigh next faced a combined singles team from both Binghamton and St. Bonaventure. The Mountain Hawks found wins from Daskalovic at number three, Morash at number four and Imanishi at number five. Lehigh's second singles team faced off against Marist, winning three of six matches thanks to Ogata, Hacohen and Stoller.

In doubles play against FDU, Lehigh was bested in all three matches. Against Army Gold in doubles, Jaeger/Van Lumich won 6-3 at number one before the Mountain Hawks dropped their matches at two and three. Lehigh's second doubles team then won two of three against FDU, earning wins from Ogata/Stoller and Wyeth Anzilotti/Nate Raney.

Lehigh's final competition of the weekend came in singles play against the combined Binghamton and St. Bonaventure team. Hacohen and Anzilotti won their matches at two and three respectively.

The Mountain Hawks will next compete at ITA Regionals on the campus of Princeton University from October 16-21.
