Lehigh Wins Nine Events at Keystone State Challenge

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks hit the track for the first time this spring at the Keystone State Classic. Shippensburg University hosted Lehigh track and field among other Pennsylvania schools to welcome in the official start to the outdoor season.

It was a very warm welcome for Harper Glennon, as she earned two top-five finishes in her outdoor collegiate debut. She opened up the spring season with a win in the 100 meter dash. The first-year ran a 12.11-second race, making her the fourth fastest 100 meter runner in team history. She followed it up with a 25.62-second 200 meter race, which earned her fourth. Jade Sanders was the top Mountain Hawk in that event, placing third by running 25.55. They were joined in the top 10 by Kasey White, who placed sixth with a time of 26.08. White also ran her way towards the top of the field in the 400 meter race. She placed fourth in the quarter-mile event, finishing in 58.43.

Lehigh took the top four spots in the 800 meter race. Sophomores Jaqueline Gifford and Isabel Owens led the way as the winner and runner-up. Gifford ran 2:25.18, and Owens finished right behind in 2:25.47. First-years Sophia Lee and Mallory Sherrer closed the sweep in third and fourth. Lee crossed the line in her outdoor debut at 2:26.28, just in front of Sherrer who did so at 2:26.45.

Lehigh's middle distance success also was present in the 1500 meter run, as the Mountain Hawks owned four of the top seven spots. Lauryn Heskin paced the field, winning the event in blazing fashion. After not competing indoors, the graduate student won by a staggering 31.4 seconds. She set a new personal record of 4:29.55, earning the seventh place spot on Lehigh's all-time performance list. Gifford took third in the event, breaking the five-minute mark for the first time by finishing at 4:57.42. Sherrer and Grace Trimmer crossed the line in 5:00.44 and 5:02.06, respectively. The first-year pair finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh.

The Mountain Hawks had a trio of sophomores sweep the 5000 meter race. Elizabeth Ehrhardt won the event by over 16 seconds, crossing in a personal best time of 18:25.56. Brenna Dahlgren was the runner-up, running 18:41.94. Chloe Browne ran 19:18.37 to take third.

Lehigh had podium finishers in each of the four jumping events. Grace Nation won the triple jump, leading with a personal best distance of 11.96 meters. This feat makes her the third longest triple jumper in Lehigh's team history. First-year Charlotte DeForest led the long jump field, jumping a personal best distance of 5.45 meters in her outdoor debut. Lehigh also took second thanks to Corinn Brewer. The senior landed at 5.41 meters, the furthest jump she has had in an outdoor season. Anna Troutman and Melanie LaCorte took the second and third spots in the high jump. Troutman cleared 1.60 meters, while LaCorte's best jump was 1.50 meters. Laura Reigle placed third in the pole vault, clearing the 3.85-meter bar.

Grace Aggen won both the shot put and discus to open her final outdoor season. The senior threw 13.69 meters to take the shot put victory. She flung the discus 45.50 meters, winning the event by three and a half meters. First-year Avery Hogan also took fourth in the event, throwing 37.95 meters in her collegiate discus debut.

Between the two hurdle events, Lehigh placed all of their runners within the top six finishers. First-years Lyssi Penn and Faith Schiffer reached the podium over 100 meters. Penn was the runner-up with the time of 14.85, and Schiffer ran 15.11 to take third. Corinn Brewer finished fourth by running 15.22 and Anna Troutman ran 15.49 to place sixth, both times being new personal records. Lanae Carrington earned victory over 400 meters. The sophomore ran 1:02.57. Fellow sophomore Adelaide Videon-Perino also made the podium in third, setting a personal record by running 1:05.01. Maggie Sclazo ran 1:08.49 in her first collegiate 400 meter hurdles race, which earned the first-year fifth.

Lehigh had three top-five javelin throwers. Brewer led the group, placing second with a 37.52-meter personal best throw. Juniors Meghan Miller and Peyton Lewis rounded out the top five for the event. Miller threw 35.56 meters to place fourth, and Lewis took fifth at 34.99 meters.

First-year Katie Keenan earned fifth as Lehigh's lone hammer thrower. She threw 37.69 in her college hammer debut.

The Mountain Hawks next compete at the Monmouth Season opener on March 27-28.
