Aggen's School Record Highlights Successful Two-Meet Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Another multi-meet weekend for the Lehigh track and field teams saw the Mountain Hawks send athletes to the two-day Virginia Challenge and Friday's Coach Pollard Invitational, hosted by Moravian. Junior Grace Aggen broke the school record in the shot put for a second consecutive weekend, highlighting a two-meet showing that saw the Lehigh women post four wins with four more all-time top 10 additions.
 
VIRGINIA CHALLENGE
Aggen's last throw in the shot put went 15.08m, breaking the school record of 14.26m she set last weekend at Bucknell. She finished seventh against a tough field.
 
Junior Abby Klebe ran 2:06.69 to finish second in the 800m invitational. In the open 800m, senior Svea Wickelgren ran 2:10.54 to finish seventh, moving into sixth place all-time at Lehigh. Senior Lauryn Heskin ran a season-best 2:12.13 and junior Amber Barrios ran 2:19.05.
 
Senior Lillian Mauger competed in the long jump, finishing 17th with an effort of 5.65m.
 
Junior Grace Kennedy competed in the 400m hurdles invitational, finishing sixth with a time of 1:00.91 and then ran a 56.27 in the 400m.
 
First-year Meghan Miller posted a mark of 42.32m in the javelin.
 
COACH POLLARD INVITATIONAL
Throws
First-year Emily Kolodziej had a big day Friday, winning the discus with an eighth all-time mark of 44.31m. She was also runner-up in the shot put with a PR throw of 12.74m. Classmate Olivia Dubrow finished second in the discus with a mark of 42.77m that just missed the all-time top 10. She also posted a PR in the hammer throw (39.03m).
 
Junior Jennifer Whipple finished second in the hammer throw with a PR of 44.32m. Sophomore Avery Dowkus finished fourth in both the hammer 42.18m and the shot put 12.39m.
 
First-year Peyton Lewis finished third in the javelin with a mark of 34.36m.
 
Mid-Distance/Distance
Lehigh had five runners finish top 10 in the 1500m with all five posting PRs. Sophomore Grace Hughes won the event, running a 4:38.51. Sophomore Hope Trimmer finished second with a time of 4:40.33 and first-year Kaitlyn Highduch took third (4:42.67).
 
Six Mountain Hawks finished top 10 out of 37 runners in the 800m, led by first-year Lauren Bower, who won with a PR of 2:16.18. Sophomore Aurora Wilson (2:20.89) and first-year Izzy Owens (2:21.34) finished top six and posted PRs as well.
 
First-year Kaya Meler was runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase with a PR of 11:26.78. In the 5000m, first-year Brenna Dahlgren finished fifth with a time of 18:45.41, while classmate Chloe Browne took seventh in 19:15.81.
 
Jumps
Junior Laura Reigle won the pole vault, clearing 3.95m.
 
Junior Grace Nation finished fifth in the long jump, moving into 10th place all-time with a leap of 5.57m. Nation also finished fourth in the triple jump with an effort of 11.38m. Senior Lauren Roy (5.38m) and Troutman (5.11m) posted PRs in the long jump.
 
Senior Izabel Fronc finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.58m. Junior Melanie LaCorte also cleared 1.58m and Sanford posted a PR of 1.48m.
 
Sophomore Gaea DePass competed at the Rutgers Relays Saturday and posted a PR of 1.60m in the high jump.
 
Sprints/Hurdles
Three athletes made the finals in the 100m hurdles, led by senior Shelby Dejana, who took third in 15.08. Sophomore Emma Sanford (15.50) and first-year Anna Troutman (15.59) turned in PRs.
 
Junior Gianna Mangili and senior Stephanie Webb led Lehigh in the 100m. Mangili ran a 12.37 in the finals to finish third, while Webb qualified with a time of 12.61.
 
First-year Lanae Carrington led Lehigh in the 400m (57.88) and the 200m (25.99). Webb ran a PR of 58.02 in the 400m and added a 26.41 200m effort.
Sophomore Mila Jovanovic finished seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:07.01.
 
Lehigh had two teams in the 4x400 relay. Senior Riley Morrell teamed with Bower, Trimmer and sophomore Elizabeth Jenulis to run a 4:10.85. Hughes and Wilson teamed with first-year Jacqueline Gifford and sophomore Siri Hellenbrand to post a 4:16.88.
 
Another two meet weekend awaits the Mountain Hawks next weekend. Lehigh will send select athletes to the Penn Relays, beginning Thursday in Philadelphia. Lehigh will also host the Carol and John Covert Classic Friday-Saturday on the Goodman Campus.
