BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Lehigh men's lacrosse team returns to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Saturday at 12 p.m. to host Colgate on Alumni and Day. The Mountain Hawks enter the matchup with a 4-7 overall record and a 3-2 mark in Patriot League play, while the Raiders come in at 6-5 (3-2 PL).
The Mountain Hawks are looking to build momentum after a 10-6 victory over Holy Cross on April 5, their second league win in a row. The Mountain Hawks jumped out to a dominant 10-1 lead, and while the Crusaders closed the game on a 5-0 run, Lehigh's early offensive burst proved more than enough to secure the win.
First-year attackman Colin French had a breakout performance, recording a career-high five points on four goals and an assist. His efforts earned him Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on April 7, his first career weekly award.
Senior faceoff specialist Sean Dow was also recognized, being named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week after winning 18-of-20 faceoffs and collecting 12 ground balls. The Simpsonville, S.C., native has been dominant in league play, winning 82% of his draws (84-for-101). He currently leads the Patriot League in both faceoff win percentage (64.45%) and ground balls per game (7.45).
In goal, sophomore Kasey Heath recorded 13 saves in the win over Holy Cross. Heath has reached double-digit saves in all 11 starts this season and owns a 57.4% save percentage with 151 total saves.
Offensively, junior attackman Andrew Kelly leads the Mountain Hawks with 29 points, including 19 goals and 10 assists.
Colgate is powered by Liam Connor, who leads the team with 56 points (23 goals, 33 assists), followed closely by Rory Connor with 54 points (33 goals, 21 assists). The Raiders average 14.45 goals per game while holding opponents to an average of 13.
Lehigh holds a 23-39 all-time record against Colgate but has won the last two meetings, including a 9-7 victory last season. In that game, the Mountain Hawks held Colgate scoreless for the first 28 minutes to take control early and never looked back.
Up next, Lehigh hits the road for a nationally televised matchup at Boston University on April 19 at 12 p.m., airing on CBS Sports Network.
