Klebe Wins 800m Title, Five Podium Finishes For Lehigh Sunday At PLC

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Junior Abby Klebe won the Patriot League 800m indoor championship for the second straight year and was one of five podium finishes for the Lehigh women's track and field team Sunday as the Mountain Hawks concluded action at the Patriot League Championships at Navy's Wesley A. Brown Field House.
 
The Mountain Hawks finished the two-day meet in fourth place with 69 points. Boston University claimed the team title with 166 points, followed by Navy (148.5) and Army (139.5).
 
SPRINTS/HURDLES/MID-DISTANCE/DISTANCE
Klebe set a new indoor championship meet and facility record in winning the 800m with a time of 2:07.01 Sunday. She claimed the 800m indoor title for the second consecutive year after finishing second as a first-year in 2003. Senior Svea Wickelgren also made the finals in the 800 and finished fifth with a time of 2:11.66.
 
In the 400m, junior Grace Kennedy improved in her second all-time mark set Saturday, running 55.37 to finish in fourth place.
 
Senior Shelby Dejana finished eighth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.06 seconds.
 
Lehigh had three entrants in the 3000m, with senior Savanah Beavers finishing 18th with a time of 10:03.82. Sophomore Grace Hughes set a new PR, running 10:08.06 to finish 20th, while first-year Kaitlyn Highduch finished in 23rd (10:08.91).
 
JUMPS
Two Mountain Hawks finished on the podium in the high jump, with senior Izabel Fronc claiming silver by clearing 1.68m. First-year Anna Troutman cleared 1.65m to tie for third place and sophomore Gaea DePass also cleared 1.65m finishing in eighth place.
 
Senior Lillian Mauger scored in the triple jump, with a leap of 11.39m to finish in seventh place. Mauger set a new PR and moved into a tie for eighth all-time. Junior Grace Nation finished 12th with a jump of 10.65m and senior Lauren Roy finished 13th (10.61m).
 
THROWS
Four Mountain Hawks competed in the shot put, led by junior Grace Aggen, who finished 14th (13.28m). She was followed by sophomore Avery Dowkus (17th, 12.67m) and first-years Emily Kolodziej (19th, 12.23m) and Olivia Dubrow (21st, 11.08m)
 
RELAYS
The women finished strong with podium finishes in both relays that wrapped up the meet. In the DMR, senior Lauryn Heskin, first-year Lauren Bower, junior Amber Barrios and Klebe finished second with a time of 11:43.16, good for second all-time at Lehigh.
 
In the 4x400m relay, Kennedy and Wickelgren teamed with first-year Jade Sanders and sophomore Kasey White to finish third with a time of 3:48.99, with the mark also good for second all-time.
 
The Mountain Hawks finished the indoor championship meet with one individual champion, three runner-up finishes and two third-place finishes.
