Javelin Throwers Kick Off Outdoor Season With Wins At Phoenix Invitational

ELON, N.C. – Lehigh's javelin throwers kicked off the outdoor track and field season for the Mountain Hawks Friday at Elon's Phoenix Invitational. Seven male athletes and two females competed Friday morning in the javelin with Mountain Hawk throwers claiming victories on both sides.

Both of Lehigh's women's entrants were first-years, with Meghan Miller taking the victory with a throw of 39.84m in her college debut. Miller topped an 18-thrower field. First-year Peyton Lewis finished sixth with a throw of 34.42m.

On the men's side junior Wil Jaques took the top spot with a throw of 63.61m.

Lehigh throwers also claimed fourth through eighth place, with senior Greg Stagliano finishing fourth with an effort of 56.68m. First-year Harrison Keen was right behind with a throw of 56.54m.

Sophomore Gavin Chamberlain threw a PR of 55.80m to finish in sixth place, followed by senior Hunter Rodarmel in seventh (54.71) and senior Liam Campiglia, who finished eighth with a PR of 52.78m.

First-year Aaron Lee debuted with a throw of 47.77 to finish in 12th place.

Lehigh's full squad will open the outdoor season at the Keystone Challenge, March 22 in Shippensburg, Pa.
