Mountain Hawks Win Six Events At Keystone Challenge

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Outdoor season continued for Lehigh men's track and field on Saturday from the Keystone Challenge on the campus of Shippensburg University. Six wins highlighted a solid day of outdoor events for the men.

JUMPS
First-year Jaden Ferguson claimed victory in the high jump at 1.98m.
In the pole vault, first-year Sayyidakbar Akbarov finished fourth at 4.35m followed by sophomore Eli Johnson in seventh at 4.20m.
Sophomore Andrew Clark recorded a new PR of 6.51m to claim eighth in the long jump. Following Clark was junior Daniel Givens (9th, 6.41m), senior Jordan Layos (15th, 6.11m), first-year Jacob Chernin (16th, 6.09m) and Ferguson (17th, 5.07m).
Layos led the way for the Mountain Hawks in the triple jump, recording a new PR of 13.62m to claim fifth. Givens (7th, 12.86m) and Chernin (8th, 12.22m) also finished for Lehigh.

MID-DISTANCE
Senior Aidan Lynch was victorious in the 800m, claiming first with a time of 1:58.76. First-year Peter Priestner took third at 2:00.45 followed by sophomore Aidan LaTourette (4th, 2:02.36) and junior Dan Malatesta (5th, 2:03.05) to round out the top five.
Lynch also won the 1500m race with a time of 4:05.80. Following him was junior Alex Heidemann (3rd, 4:08.30), first-year Ian Zalewski (5th, 4:09.39), first-year Isaac Greene (7th, 4:10.00), sophomore Danny Walter (8th 4:10.04), sophomore Derek Coceano (9th, 4:10.16 PR), first-year Jared Weiss (16th, 4:16.59) and Malatesta (18th, 4:18.43).
Earning his first collegiate win in the 5k race was sophomore Ryan Baker, who earned a PR with a time of 15:13.80. Other finishers in the event for Lehigh included sophomore Noah Zahn (3rd, 15:33.63), first-year Will Mrozinski (4th, 15:33.92), first-year Ben Connell (5th, 15:42.63) and sophomore Dylan Cunningham (6th, 15:45.82 PR).
Junior Adam Barbato took second in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:25.67 followed by junior Max Leffler (4th, 9:43.38 PR), junior Henry Burd (5th, 9:44.65) and junior Connor Malinger (7th, 9:54.13).
SPRINTS/HURDLES
In the 100m sprint, sophomore Eddie Moore finished in third place at 10.96 to lead all Lehigh sprinters. First-year Jaden Green (7th, 11.14), senior Patrez Thomas (13th, 11.33), Givens (16th, 11.55), sophomore Gabriel Mays-Sanchez (18th, 11.83) and first-year Austin Iburg (19th, 11.88) followed Moore in the 100m.
Thomas led the Lehigh contingent in the 200m with an eighth-place finish at 22.84. Senior Jonathan Bennett (11th, 23.10), Iburg (17th, 24.00) and sophomore Nathan Oliphant (20th, 24.40) also finished for the Mountain Hawks.
In the 400m, first-year Quinten Slaughter placed seventh at 51.00 followed by sophomore David Sedrak in tenth place at 51.70.
Oliphant improved on his ninth all-time finish in the 110m hurdles, finishing in first-place at 14.58. Bennett claimed second with a time of 14.77 followed by first-year Neves Hoose (12th, 16.62) and first-year Tyler VerSchure (13th, 18.41).
Sophomore Aidan Dibuono recorded a new PR in the 400m hurdles, finishing fifth at 56.47.
In the 4x100m relay, the team of VerSchure, Dibuono, Slaughter and Moore took second out of three with a time of 43.49.
The team of Thomas, Iburg, Dibuono and sophomore Logan Haverkamp won the 4x400m realy in 3:29.20.
THROWS
Five Mountain Hawks competed in the shot put, led by senior Liam Lovering in sixth-place with a 15.30m throw. He was followed by junior Joseph Nowakowski (7th, 15.29m), senior Ethan McHugh (17th, 12.63m), first-year Joshua Porter (19th, 11.64m) and first-year Aaron Humes (20th, 11.17m).
Lovering claimed second-place in the discus throw at 49.05m. First-year Adam Klinge (14th, 40.83m), Hoose (18th, 28.09m), VerSchure (19th, 27.83m) and Clark (20th, 27.20m) also competed for the Mountain Hawks.
Lovering etched his name into the Lehigh record books in the hammer throw, becoming seventh all-time with a 51.50m throw to take third. Also competing in the hammer throw for Lehigh was Nowakowski (11th, 42.55m PR), junior Sharan Shankar (13th, 40.59m), McHugh (15th, 39.42m), Porter (17th, 33.90) and Klinge (18th, 31.91).
Nine student-athletes competed in the javelin throw. Junior Wil Jaques led the Mountain Hawks with a third-place finish at 56.65m. Rounding out the top ten for Lehigh was first-year Harrison Keen (6th, 52.76m), sophomore Gavin Chamberlain (7th, 49.33m), senior Liam Campiglia (8th, 49.30m) and first-year Aaron Lee (9th, 49.04m PR).
