Mountain Hawks Fall To Columbia 10-6

BETHLEHEM, Pa - On a sunny Tuesday at the Ulrich Sports Complex, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks were edged 10-6 by the Columbia Lions.
Senior Angelina Pino and sophomore Molly Snow led Lehigh with two goals apiece.
The Lions jumped out on a 2-0 lead with 11:10 remaining in the first quarter. At 10:07, Snow put Lehigh on the board with a player-up free position goal.
Columbia responded with two more goals before Snow converted on another free position goal as Lehigh trailed 4-2 heading into the second quarter.
At 14:44 in the second quarter, sophomore Grace Martel dished a ball to Pino who brought Lehigh within one as the Mountain Hawks trailed 4-3. The Lions struck shortly after, extending their lead to 5-3.
With 11:41 on the clock, sophomore Shannon Nolan put Lehigh within one, down 5-4. At 1:19 remaining in the half, senior Kacie Wines assisted Martel for her first goal as the teams went into intermission knotted at 5-5.
Columbia held the Mountain Hawks scoreless in the third quarter, netting two goals of its own to lead 7-5 going into the fourth.
The Lions kicked off the fourth quarter with two goals, extending the lead to 9-5. At 6:36, Pino scored a free position shot to make it 9-6. Columbia's leading scorer on the afternoon, Cecelia Messner, completed the hat trick with over a minute left as Columbia defeated Lehigh 10-6.
Lehigh won the draw control battle 12-6 as Martel was Lehigh's leader, securing six. Pino led the Mountain Hawks in caused turnovers with two, while Brynn Freeman and Lauren Warfield both added one.
Senior goalkeeper Julia DeLitta recorded 11 saves and two ground balls. Columbia's Ava Kimche recorded 10 saves, five ground balls and one caused turnover.
Lehigh (1-2) hits the road on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks play at Georgetown at noon.
