Lehigh Downs Lafayette 102-79 For 16th Straight Indoor Rivalry Win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's track and field team won 10 of 17 events on the way to the Mountain Hawks' 16th consecutive win over Lafayette in the indoor dual meet. Lehigh bested Lafayette 102-79 Saturday at Rauch Fieldhouse in the Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute. The Mountain Hawks won five of six field events along with five track events to contribute to Lehigh's 11th consecutive Rivalry sweep in indoor track and field.
THROWS
Lehigh had the top two finishers in the weight throw and the top three in the shot put to claim 16 points from the two events. Sophomore Avery Dowkus won the weight throw with a PR of 15.72m and finished second in the shot put with a throw of 13.17, also a PR. Junior Grace Aggen won the shot put with a throw of 13.45m, setting a PR and improving on her seventh all-time mark. First-year Emily Kolodziej took third in the shot put (12.68m). Junior Jen Whipple was runner-up in the weight throw, with a toss of 14.28m.
JUMPS
Mountain Hawk athletes went 1-2-3 in both the high jump and triple jump and posted 1-2-4 finishes in the long jump. Senior Izabel Fronc won the high jump, clearing 1.67m, followed by junior Melanie LaCorte (1.57m) and sophomore Emma Sanford (1.52m).
Senior Lillian Mauger won the long jump (5.59m) and took second with a PR in the triple jump (11.04m). Junior Grace Nation took the triple jump with an effort of 11.07m. Senior Keisha Modi was second in the long jump (5.36m). Senior Lauren Roy was third in the triple jump (10.84m) and fourth in the long jump (5.19m).
Junior Lena Perlmutter led Lehigh in the pole vault, clearing 3.20m.
MID-DISTANCE/DISTANCE
Sophomore Hope Trimmer led a 1-2 finish in the mile with a big PR of 5:08.31, with senior Riley Morrell finishing second (5:10.14). Junior Abby Klebe kept her strong indoor season going with a win in the 1000m, with a time of 2:54.57. Sophomore Elizabeth Jenulis was the runner-up with a time of 3:03.62.
Senior Svea Wickelgren led Lehigh in the 500m, finishing second with a time of 1:15.20. In the 800m, senior Lauryn Heskin was the top finisher with a time of 2:16.59.
Senior Savanah Beavers and sophomore Grace Hughes finished 2-3 in the 3000m, with Beavers posting a time of 10:06.41 and Hughes posting a PR of 10:21.18.
SPRINTS
Senior Shelby Dejana won the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.03 seconds. Junior Grace Kennedy ran 56.80 to win the 400m, with first-year Jade Sanders finishing third (1:00.24).
In the 60m dash, junior Gianna Mangili finished second, running 7.89, while Mauger finished third (8.01).
Kennedy narrowly missed a PR in the 200m (25.36) finishing second, while Mangili finished fourth (26.50).
RELAYS
Lehigh closed out the meet with a win in the 4x800 relay, with Isabel Owens, Riley Morrell, Sadie Millett and Jacqueline Gifford turning in a time of 9:48.07. The 4x400 relay team of Stephanie Webb, Lanae Carrington, Amber Barrios and Adelaide Videon-Perino finished second with a time of 4:08.44.
Lehigh will be back in action Friday at the Fastrack Nationals in Staten Island, N.Y.
THROWS
