Women's Wrestling Debuts With Strong Showing at ESU Open

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Competing in its first official event as a varsity program, the Lehigh women's wrestling team had 18 wrestlers in action at the East Stroudsburg Open Sunday at Koehler Fieldhouse. At the end of a 13-hour day of wrestling, the Mountain Hawks had seven athletes place in the top four of their respective weight classes. First-year Abbi Cooper captured the title at 117 to lead the Lehigh contingent.
The Mountain Hawks racked up 30 points from their seven place winners to claim the team title.
Cooper went 5-0 Sunday with four technical superiority victories and a pin. Her technical fall win over Kean's Domenica Fallos 10-0 in just 0:17 is believed to be the first official Lehigh victory of this new era. Cooper won a 10-0 technical fall over Pitt-Johnstown's Tamara Humphries in the finals at 117.
Second-year wrestlers Kryssceah Ravenelle (138) and Genevieve An (180) also reached the finals. At 138, Lehigh had three of the final four wrestlers on the championship side. Ravenelle defeated Lehigh teammate Morgan Edwards 3-2 in the semifinals before dropping her finals bout to Ruby Julien-Newsom of King by fall.

At 138, Edwards and Mary Manis took third and fourth, respectively, with Edwards winning the third-place match by fall.
Lehigh's other two place winners were Alexa Ciliotta (124) and Cameron Millsapps (160). Ciliotta rebounded from a semifinal loss to place third with a pin over Delaware State's Chanell Alburg. Millsapps won her first three bouts by fall before dropping semifinal and third-place bouts to finish in fourth place.
Fifteen of Lehigh's 18 entrants won at least one bout Sunday. Paige De Caro wrestled the first official bout, against ESU's Madison Westerberg.
Select Mountain Hawks will compete at the Bill Farrell International next weekend at the New York Athletic Club. Lehigh's next official competition date is a Nov. 16 dual at Lock Haven.
The 2025-26 Lehigh women's wrestling season is presented by the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
