Jimenez Tabbed as NCAA Wrestler of the Year by NWCA

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh wrestler Audrey Jimenez was named NCAA Women's Wrestler of the Year but the National Wrestling Coaches Association, the NWCA announced Tuesday. Jimenez was recently named NCAA Region 2 Wrestler of the Year but the NWCA and was selected as the national winner from the six Regional Wrestlers of the Year.
In Lehigh's first season as a varsity program, Jimenez enjoyed a standout campaign, going 21-0 and winning the inaugural NCAA title at 110 pounds. In addition to national and regional championships, Jimenez was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the first NCAA Women's Wrestling Championships, capping her tournament with a fall in the finals. She also won the NCAA's Most Dominant Wrestler Award following the national finals, with all 21 of her victories producing bonus points, including seven falls and eight technical superiority victories.
Prior to her debut college season, Jimenez had a busy summer and fall on the international freestyle circuit as she represented the United States at 50 kg at the U20, U23 and Senior World Championships, bringing home silver medals at the U20 and U23 tournaments.
Lehigh's first varsity season included a 15-2 dual meet record, a Super Region 2 team championship and a sixth place finish at the NCAA Championships.
