Behind Six Semifinalists Lehigh Leads Super Region Two Meet As First Postseason Begins

WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – It was a historic first day for the Lehigh women's wrestling team as the Mountain Hawks competed at the NCAA Super Region Two meet Friday at West Liberty's Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex.
Lehigh had the first official NCAA postseason bout, a 46-second fall by Audrey Jimenez at 110, with the Mountain Hawks advancing six wrestlers to Saturday's championship semifinals and all nine of their tournament entrants to day two.
The Mountain Hawks went 14-3 Friday and lead the 16-team field with 63 points. Three crucial pins by Alexa Ciliotta (124), Makynna Loepp (145) and Cameron Millsapps (160) in the second round consolations provided key bonus points to lift Lehigh into the team lead after day one.
Lehigh went 4-1 in the tournament-opening round of 16, started with Jimenez's 46 second fall over Leah Shoemaker from Pitt-Johnstown. Ciliotta, Kryssceah Ravenelle (138) and Millsapps also won in the opening round.
Hattie Mack (103), Abbi Cooper (117), Aubre Krazer (131) and Genevieve An (180) all received byes into the quarterfinals and all four were victorious in their lone bouts of the day Friday. Mack defeated Lock Haven's Summer Batts 8-1, Cooper won a 13-2 technical fall over West Liberty's Trinity Howard, Krazer needed just 92 seconds to beat Gianna Slusser of Penn State-Altoona 10-0 and An beat York's Allison Brandt 10-0 in just 1:35.
Jimenez pinned West Liberty's Nila Bland in 1:47 to reach the semifinals, while a late throw gave Ravenelle a pin over Cedar Crest's Madacyn Rivera.
Loepp rebounded from her opening round loss with two victories to reach the third round of consolations. Ciliotta and Millsapps suffered quarterfinal losses but rebounded with wins in their first consolation bouts.
In the team race, Ursinus sits in second with 61 points, while Lock Haven is third with 57.
The NCAA Super Region Two meet concludes Saturday with action beginning at 11 a.m. Day two will feature championship semifinals, consolation third round and semifinals and placement matches for first, third and fifth. The top three placers in each weight class will qualify for the first NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship, March 6-7 in Coralville, Iowa.
